We believe that youth are the earth’s biggest untapped resource.

“Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation.
Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace.”
— Kofi Annan

At GEN, we’re on a mission to unlock the potential of a generation of young workers and leaders.

Together, we’re building Social Mobility Enterprises, a new kind of community business that transforms slum communities by providing skills-building paths out of poverty for young people otherwise trapped in dead-end informal sector jobs.

This work matters because youth really count.

1.8 billion young people.

90% in the developing world.

120 million job seekers per year.

Over 80 Million underemployed.

Another 150 MILLION working poor.

We’ve been called a “ticking time bomb” that costs countries billions in lost potential, is vulnerable to exploitation, and is targeted for recruitment by criminal groups, from local gangs to terror cells.

But there’s another way to look at us. We’re not a “lost generation.”

We’re Generation Enterprise.

We’re full of potential – to transform our lives, contribute to our communities, and build a prosperous inclusive future.  There’s a so-called fortune at the bottom of the pyramid, and we could be the key.

Let’s get started.
