The Africa Startup Academy is an incubator program designed solely for socially responsible youth-run businesses that sustainably create paths out of poverty for young people (Social Mobility Enterprises).
Launched on the 22nd of January 2016, the Academy aims to propel innovation, wealth and job creation in Africa by accelerating sustainable entrepreneurship, and inclusive business. Given the continent’s 1 billion-strong population and because we believe that entrepreneurs are Africa’s future, we focus on building an ecosystem that services early stage, high growth businesses in the following ways:
Knowledge: develop each entrepreneur’s skills in Business, Design, and Technology through practical and hands-on learning experiences.
Community: Strengthen the support system around our entrepreneurs, by connecting them to our local and international network of mentors, advisors, industry experts and angel investors.
Talent: Build capacity of each venture by injecting talent from around the world through our Venture Builders Fellowship program.
Exposure: Facilitate exposure to new markets through our Africa Accelerator Alliance, where we partner with accelerators across the continent.
Capital: Provide seed capital and growth capital through our strong relationship with public and private investment partners.
We participated in the 1776 Startup Incubator, Aso Villa Demo Day (AVDD) and UNREASONABLE programs.
